today vs. tomorrow

labels make fools of all of us
because we’re never just one thing
this body
i was born with it
life brings such wonders
come fall and spring
through the looking glass
prominently
taking up space
at a time and place
free yourself
give gifts of grace
all humanity
walking through a maze
tunnels turning right and left
cobwebs
decades in the making
change can always be counted on

what you pray for silently
the universe hears you
though time plays tricks on me
am i really mid-forties??
fuck the stigma
we all have pasts
not one of us innocent
address it. just ask.
you won’t hurt my feelings
well maybe just a bit
you have that right
as do i
to speak with intent
though written
hope leads me to believe
there’s life, desire, pride and need
subtleties
manifesting
differently
treat today with purpose
nothing yet is written for tomorrow
until tomorrow’s sun rises on you
